Gehard Demetz

Gehard Demetz, my favorite Totally mesmerising work from Gehard Demetz. such strong emotion in the figures and a beautiful aesthetic of rough and finely finished sculpture in timber, with broken, removed and missing chucks/blocks of timber. This piece was my favourite, a girl in black boots and scissors tied to the back of her hands. He was exhibited as part of Preview Berlin an art fair for emerging artists. He was represented by a gallery in Italy, Galleria Rubin in Milano. This piece was around 20,000 Euro. There were smaller, amazingly detailed works also, and a larger work. all amazing, all very intense. the eyes especially of them all were very powerful. And they were all children, but place on these blocks, they were all eye level to an adult, so they stared straight into you. chilling, but amazing.

(ignore the painting in the background, it had nothing to do with it, should have been covered really)
