A short exhibition held February 1-3 2019 at my friend’s new art space in Tokyo, called Almost Perfect. Located in Kojima, a short walk from Asakusa and Kuramae in eastern Tokyo, 2 of my favourite areas to visit over the years exploring

For the exhibition, I made a series of line drawings of everyday buildings of the surrounding area of Taito and Sumida ward in a Japanese folded book (Orihon折本) which was displayed opened along the wall ~4m in length. To compliment the original digital coloured prints on archival Hahnemühle rice paper were made with key colours taken from the buildings, blue tiles, pink flowers, red bricks etc. and displayed above the original drawings. See photos below.

Thank you to everyone who attended the opening and visited and purchased some of the prints, and I hope to continue the series as i continue to explore the creative craftsmanship ateliers, backstreets studios and tucked away cafe’s of the area.
