| January 20th, 2010

2 wonderful exhibits on at the Object Gallery in Surryhills/Darlinghurst, Sydney

http://www.object.com.au/#/node/20/ an exhibition of Jeff Mincham’s astonishing ceramic artworks/masterpieces
this is wonderfully inspiring craftsmanship. and beautifully shown with great words written about the subjects and themes in Jeff’s work. thank you Object Gallery

Second is the Precious Pendants exhibit, http://www.object.com.au/#/node/22/ amazing little worlds, created to reflect or reveal the owners innerness.. and amazing array of techniques and materials used. a must see for any lover of object design. some of the pieces made me think of the illustrations of Shaun Tan, how he creates little other worlds within our world that speak to us more clear than what we can see for ourselves

Visual Rhythms – Richard Byers – Berlin

| September 9th, 2009

I am very excited to announce my solo exhibition in Berlin.
Visual Rhythms opens on the 17th September and the exhibition continues till the 8th October.
It is being held at RIPA.FRIES in Mitte Berlin, a jewellery studio, shop and art gallery.

Visual Rhythms will present a selection of work I have been producing in Berlin at Rooftop Studios, focused on scultural structures made from timber, paper and projected light. The projected light is interactive either with audio or camera, and will react and reflection people in the gallery. There will also be some additional works on canvas with ink linework and projected light and various sketches on paper showing the process of the developing the more finished works.

There will hopefully be a webcast of the opening for those unable to be in Berlin. more info to follow regarding this.

I would like to thank Sonja Fries and On-yau for making this possible, you’re encouragement was inspirational in helping me realise this dream

well thanks go to Craig, a friend of a friend, who’s book i have ‘Art Space Tokyo’ www.artspacetokyo.com but had not read yet. after a chance meeting him at friend dinner for dinner, he suggested a particular choice from the book. Gallery ef in Asakusa.. http://www.gallery-ef.com/ well i just spent the whole afternoon there.. writing, reading and talking with the owner and co founder of jibo a chinese, japanese collaboration, who are interested in bringing to light lost forms of hieroglyths from ancient chinese times. well there’s more to it than that.. but i’m only just reading about it myself.. look at www.ji-bo.com for yourself to read about it.

The gallery is primarily a cafe but with a almost hidden gallery as a highlight if discovered. the smell of the room was lovely, i will go again to talk, read, write and draw.
