mobile phone fishing

| February 16th, 2009

mobile phone fishingAt the Japan media arts festival, there was this fishing game. People took a photo of a code, which downloaded an application to their phone, which they then used to connect with the fishing game. the person then appeared on the ground as an icon, and they used their phone to move around the ‘water’ to try catch fish. when they ‘caught’ a fish their fish appeared on another screen on the wall..  and i think they somehow scored ‘points’
It was obviously very popular and addictive, people stood their for a long time, and ushers had to encourage people to move along and let others try it. The ease at which absolutely anyone could download and connect and play this game was fantastic!

Eiemon

| January 13th, 2009

I met Eiemon a few weeks ago, on the street in a random wandering. She sells handmade goods from her bike. She makes the bags and purses etc. from a fabric from the area around Kyoto. i bought one of her bags, and had a small chat in broken english and my very bad japanese. she was a very happy lady it seems. you might see her in Sydney one day selling her craft from her bike even.

| January 12th, 2009

well thanks go to Craig, a friend of a friend, who’s book i have ‘Art Space Tokyo’ www.artspacetokyo.com but had not read yet. after a chance meeting him at friend dinner for dinner, he suggested a particular choice from the book. Gallery ef in Asakusa.. http://www.gallery-ef.com/ well i just spent the whole afternoon there.. writing, reading and talking with the owner and co founder of jibo a chinese, japanese collaboration, who are interested in bringing to light lost forms of hieroglyths from ancient chinese times. well there’s more to it than that.. but i’m only just reading about it myself.. look at www.ji-bo.com for yourself to read about it.

The gallery is primarily a cafe but with a almost hidden gallery as a highlight if discovered. the smell of the room was lovely, i will go again to talk, read, write and draw.
